Waterproof backpacks

With my latest choice of bike i can sadly no longer fit my trusty Oxford tailpack, which i bought off Terry lees and has been a superb bit of kit that has been well used and watertight....sooooooo
I have to go down the backpack route, i know some ppl reckon its a bit dangerous to use a backpack on a bike as it can damage your back/neck etc if you have an off...anyways i feel ok with taking that risk..
So far have looked at the Kriega ones which are pretty pricey then i found THIS from Amazon...looks exactly what i'm needing but fekkin typically out of stock...good price too and great reviews...was hoping to get it for BM..
Any other recommendations????

Aye cheers Davie, i saw them as well but these things tend to fly off over a certain speed..

Ducati do a tankbag and tailpack for the Pani but the tailpack its £165 and the tank bag is even dearer!!!
I had a look at them last week at Ducati Glasgow, the oxford tailpack is a better one than the ducati one, a lot bigger too..and a heck of a lot cheaper...just the wrong bloody shape for the Pani!!

Have a local Millets shop down here, went there today and it's been closed down..

Having had many rucksacks for biking over the last 2 yrs, thought id throw my hat in here.

I was always put off by the cost of kreiga's, and stuck with normal cheaper rucksacks, but on trips and longer rides, i really felt the weight through the straps which would dig in under my arms.

I now own a 30 litre waterproof kreiga, was a bit pricey but its so well built, and useable, I use it all the time for any sort of traveling now.
The harness system is worth its weight in gold in my eyes, I can really load up the pack but because of the harness wont give me any strains or pains.
I agree the price is a bit high but mine has already taken a beating and still feels new, couldn't recommend them enough

Yeah I think Kriega's are prob the best option. You get what you pay for I guess. I had a look at the parachute harness style straps and they do look good. Might have to bite the bullet and just get one!!

also they have a 10 year guarantee, not a shabby offer to have included, you can attach all sorts of gubbins too em to!

if you do get one, id recommend the R30, its the fully waterproof one, might need that in ireland!

Dave just be done with it and bring the cat, well whats left of it after Ross left it!
No looking forward to seeing the new one in the flesh so to speak.

I've got round to the way of thinking that equipment that was made for biking lasts longer in the end. Had a expensive backpack and it lasted for years of backpacking, a little grubby but no damage, used it for ten months on the bike and it was wrecked. A £12 tank bag from Lidl lasted 4 years and then it was only the zip that broke. Try Ghostbikes, good stuff at sensible prices and delivered most times with in 24 hours.

Those Overboard bags are great, I've had one since 2007 and just had to change it as work it out. A couple of years sliding about inside a topbox isn't great for them

Another +1 for ghostbikes.

I've a berghaus backpack with waist and shoulder straps.
A couple of bin bags inside makes it 100% waterproof.
You're welcome to borrow that if you want.

Cheers for the offer Rosco, i've ordered one of these to get me through BM as they do 24hr delivery and its in stock etc...Came up as a best buy on Fast bike mag so it canny be too bad..has one of those waterproof cover things so hopefully it won't fly off!!
Long term i think i'll go for the overboard one and if its crap then i'll end up with a Kriega..

Baws!!! I completely forgot the Pani came with a removeable pillion seat. Have just tried it On and my tailpack now fits on. Oh well the backpack will come in handy for around town!!

Re the Knox backpack I have a Knox Six Pack used daily and when a zip gave way I sent it back to them and they replaced it straight away, no hassle. Find it great and only on really long trips with lots of gear does it get a bit cumbersome

Well, i used the Knox K pack on BM and i can say it was pretty good. Only gripe is the straps are not as adjustable as i'd like. Would prefer to be able to get them a bit tighter..Apart from that my gear stayed dry and we did get some pretty awful wet weather..
I'm gonna try and modify the starps so i can get them to tighten a bit better.. Although someone of a rounder dispostition ( no names mentioned ) will prob be ok they way it comes...

My work back pack (don't use it whilst on the bike though) has given up after 6 years. I was considering getting a Bagster which would be good if I need to start using the bike to commute. The older Bagster I have has been great, 14+ years and still going good. The new one wasn't made properly and a clip has already fallen to bits, so gone off them a bit :(
