First topic message reminder :

hi
my names Andy from sunny Essex
I ride a fazer 600 and an AJP ultrapasser on the green lanes.

I will be a 100% honest here
I have joined the forum as I currently have 2/3rds of a thundercat that I am breaking,
I am not an dealer, I am not here to make loads of money, I will be advertising the parts on ebay when I get chance so this forum is not vital to me. I am a member on the fazer forum so come and have a look

Mods please delete me if you see fit I wont be offended

basically the bike is not stolen I do have the v5 but it cannot go back on the road
I think there are loads of good bits that would be of benefit to anyone running a thundercat,
I don't have fairing or forks or switchgear or rear caliper,
but I do have nearly everything else including
rear wheel with disc and usable tyre, SOLD
good fuel tank no dents but some light scratches SOLD
carbs SOLD
radiator and fan SOLD
swinging arm
engine apart from the starter motor cover all the cases look in good nick very little corrosion and no road rash SOLD
fuel pump SOLD
rear shock - not leaking SOLD
complete wiring loom
lock set SOLD
bottom yolks
cdi
rear hugger
rear indicators
rear mudguard - not been chopped
regulator/rectifier
front calipers and master cylinder etc SOLD
and loads more
please make an offer if interested
I HAVE ADDED MORE BITS ON EBAY
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

thanks Andy

all parts via this forum will be cheaper than ebay

Cheers Andy I'm not in need of an engine (hopefully) but was just wondering how much you were looking for it.

I cant help with one but I am guessing this is the first bit to hit the deck, I would suggest using a good quality liquid metal, I know some of its good enough to drill and tap threads in

Yeah I'm about to resort to doing that. I would much rather just buy a shiny one than repair mine though. Although, a friend has just donated about 25sqm of prepreg carbon fibre, and I have most of the kit to use it. Maybe I could do a fast fix and then cover it in carbon. Anyone any experience at doing this?

Hi Andy,

Would be interested in the indicators although I am after a front pair. Anyone know if they are interchangeable with the rears?

Also how much for rear wheel? Mainly interested in the disc brake...

And any chance you have the mirror floating about?

Cheers

pleased everything was o.k, you didn't hang around with fitting that
I was told that it was a good engine by the previous owner and he is rather anal about stuff. but I had never heard it run myself so I did not try to oversell it if you know what I mean

Post  SteveCat Mon Jan 06 2014, 16:36

I'd have done it on Thursday had the gasket arrived. I used a DIY motorcycle facility in London and wanted to get it done before the city woke up after the holidays and the roads were back to being clogged up. Mine was running on 3 cyl if I was lucky, had issues getting up the driveway, so 40 odd minutes in start stop traffic could have been too much.

Was a nervous moment when it was time to push the start button, however before I started dismantling the bike we made sure the engine turned and did a compression test.
When all together, the starter was pressed and it nearly caught the first time. Roared into life on the second press - what a relief.
The resident mechanic tried to scare me by saying the cam chain was noisy, I suggested we wait till the oil had a chance to fill the engine, sure enough it quietened down.

I'm not so sure an engine change is recommended for a first attempt at self spannering - I've not even changed the oil or plugs on the 'cat before, so rather a bit of baptism of fire.

Just an update
I am now open to silly cheaky cheap offers for whats left
the idea being you can buy cheap just in case you need them in the future. stick them in the garage and there not tying up loads of money,
or you maybe able to pass them on to some at a later date.
so whats left
mainly electrical stuff
coils
cdi
reg/rectifier
rear indicator
starter solenoid
clutch lever
rear wheel spindle
throttle cables
clutch cable
rear mudguard
hugger
swinging arm and linkages
rear light
some plastic trims
rear light bracket I think
and some other bits

try making me a cheeky offer for the lot
