Hi Tom, welcome, you got the pics sorted well done. If I may say you seem a bit young to be riding Wink

Pity you missed our Welsh ride-out, but never say never there could be another. Will bear your ride-out offer in mind.

Oh nearly forgot, like your 'Cat.

Thanks Steve - will keep an eye on meets and ride out posts going forward. Passed my full test 5/6 years ago before they changed the age limit for direct access Wink

I was referring to your first pic, not your age Wink Don't mind me and my odd sense of humour
I guess one day you'll have a daughter pillion.

Yes, there are a few ride-outs to choose - you have probably noticed the scrolling banner and the Something For The Weekend Section.

Hey hey
Welcome aboard.

I got it Steve... I'm not sure if this should be reassuring or more concerning but I was thinking along very similar lines before I scrolled and saw you'd made the joke already

Thanks all, only ridden it a handful of times but she goes/handles well for a 20yr old/approaching 50k.
Ponderosa is literally 10/15min away so don't have to go too far for a good ride.

Got some tidying up to do but I like the stealth look - will keep all black I think and bring some shine back to the fairings.

Only thing I've noticed is it doesn't like low revs (town riding etc) is this common for cats or would a service/carb balance sort this? (Was assured carbs were done last 12 months) idle speed has needed adjustment a coupe of times also.

Sounds like a carb clean and balance. You haven't done lot sof miles, so you wouldn't have noticed, I found if my carbs were out my right hand would go numb.

If the bikes' been standing and not done many miles in the last year it is possible there is some gunge in the carbs, jets etc.

Mine's not happy below about 2,500 rpm, even when fully cleaned and balanced.  I just try and stay away from low revs. Very Happy

Seems reasonably normal then, only a minor thing (not-picking), bargain for £840
Other than a rear tyre it's in very good condition. Thanks

Hi Tom,
Welcome to the club, nice looking Cat you have there which I'm sure you will enjoy.
You've done well to get your daughter (assuming!) on there already as mine won't go anywhere near mine, her along with the rest of my family think my driving is shocking and don't trust me on my bike. Oh well there loss lol.
My cat isn't to comfortable in low revs either but I haven't had her long, I plan to strip the carbs and service her when it cools down closer to the end of the year.
Loads of advice and tips on here when you need them.
Best of luck
Dan

Thanks all!

Dan - when I had my CBR600F4 the kids wouldn't go near it (I think it's the volume when revving, used to jump haha) Now they're a bit older (6 and 4 soon) they're a bit more confident and want to sit on it all the time. Won't be going on back till they're at least double-digits though! Haha

On another note....

I was given a micron slip on with the bike which looks and sounds nice, only issue is it has a small hole at the end of the cylinder (looks like scrape damage - only small). Is there a metal filler I could use which would repair well? Can't really weld as I would be chasing all around and burning rubber seals out.

Any suggestions?

Post  TomJones639 Sat Jul 01 2017, 18:59

Thanks Rosco - before seeing this post I actually purchased the same product (different name but same thing) and has worked a treat, sounds much nicer now and has actually helped low revs / town riding (don't ask me how, could just be the noise muffles everything else out but feels a lot nicer low down)

New Michelin Pilot Road 3 on the rear today (£150 fitted at demon tweeks) and she's up to good working order. Cocked up tyre size so now I'm running oversized 180/55/17, but I'll see how it feels and change back down on next tyre if required. Got tyre size from Michelin so didn't question, until the fitter told me it should be a 160/60 on the rear! (Ah well!) Just need to service over next couple of months prior to winter.

Also booked the TT for 2018 for me and a pillion (the mrs), and going over end of August to visit friends/family so should be a good practice for the bike over the mountain Smile

Anyone booked/going from here?

Been going since 2009 (met the mrs over there same time) and been multiple time since a year since (with the mrs being a Manx and all her family over there).

Good stuff Tom.

Glad to hear you are sorted Smile

I've been to the TT twice now but still got loads to see. I'll be back.

Enjoy in 2018.
