Big Mac 2015 - Who's up for it (Friday 31st July 3 nights) Ullapool ( & two great days of rideouts )

Hi Folks

Big Mac 2015 - Thinking of going back to Ullapool the first weekend in August (Scottish Bank Holiday weekend) and we need commitment from at least 10 (preferably a few more) that wish to stay at the youth hostel - HERE
Ideally if everyone could stay all 3 nights if possible but we might be able to accommodate less nights if some folks really need it.
(other accommodation available if youth hostel doesn't float your boat)

Friday 31st July for 3 nights - Rideouts on the Saturday and Sunday.

Prices will be cheap n cheerful as usual - approx £35 pppn (give or take a bit) and that includes breakfast, evening meals and drinks (although we might go out the Saturday or Sunday night)

We'd need a small deposit soon to confirm the booking and the rest in June.

Will work out finer details once we've got enough numbers to go ahead with a booking.

I should be able to put some folks up heading from down south to help break up their journey (as Ullapool is way up North) and to help keep folks costs down.  Some of you might even get a real bed.

Thanks Ross, it looks like I'll still have my bullet armchair by then so I should be able to cover a good 400 miles in one hit and maybe camp in the wild quite an adventure ahead I think!

Might this be of interest Mr. France. I live opposite a pub on the main A684 about 10 miles west of the A1. The pub has a small caravan site behind it, and also caters for campers. Its exactly a mile from the market town of Leyburn, where there are plenty of other pubs and eateries. From here its approx. 400 miles to the BM destination depending which way you go. There will probably be 4 or 5 others going from the north as well, so might be a canny ride up together
Ps Leyburn was the venue for last years Surf&Turf.

I've got a provisional booking for 10 spaces @ SYHA - Ullapool - Friday 31st July for 3 nights.

That does sound like a very good option Terry! Nice easy route to Leyburn covering some decent mileage, plus it would be nice to take the pressure of trying not to get lost across the border!

Have you any idea what the pub is called? I'll get some space booked then. Thanks Terry.

We shall be doing the 460 whatever miles on the Friday to get up there. Same on the way back down too in one day. Thinking of a 7 o'clock kick off in the morning from sunny Worksop but we might do some scenic things on the way up.

Might visit the Scottish house in Skyfall which isn't all that far away from Fort William. It's just something different to include on the trip, that's all.

Ok, bought the FJR.. Will collect it next Saturday and confirm this as I am supposed to be in London that week. Not sure yet Tony about the R1... Will let you know!

Had a word with the blue rinse brigade as they were sailing down the Humber estuary at about 6.30. They will sort their own accom. I don't think any of them have ever boiled a kettle or handled a dishcloth in their lives before.

It's Scottish bank holiday, not English bank holiday.

I'm defo doing a BigMac soon, won't be long until child number 2 is capable of looking after herself (I hope!)

As much as I'm determined to take in a ride out north of the border I'm afraid that once again due to my piss poor holiday allowance it wont be this year. We've changed Assen up again and I cant miss this (due to the fact that I also now organise it), BC, TOL (amongst others) and trying to fit a family holiday into 15 days I'm coming up short on days. I'm sure it'll be a cracker despite my absence and I will get there one day.

The Glens are calling....

I just happen to be typing this in McDonalds while waiting for my car to get serviced.

I resisted the BigMac on this occasion but you'll have to give in soon guys .. you'll be luvvin it!

I'm definitely in and will be transferring the deposit as soon as I get home from work also the old man is considering it but he would want a single room (and trust me with his snoring u don't wana be sharing with him) is there any availability for single rooms Ross? And if sowhat time deposit do u need?

There are no single rooms unfortunately.

We have two twins (our two couples already using them), a triple (single and a bunk) and the rest will be shared dorms / bunk beds.

Your dad could maybe have the triple with you and Paul??

We all have ear plugs though don't we??

I find a large nightcap normally helps.

If you get a deposit to me for your dad I'll book another space at the hostel.
Terry's pals (the remainder of dads army said they are coming but sorting their own accommodation.
There are quite a few b&b's dotted around too if your dad fancies somewhere other than the hostel.
