question Bishops Castle 4, Shropshire & Wales Rideout Saturday May 26th 2012

Post  robertcains Tue Nov 15 2011, 19:31

First topic message reminder :

An open discussion please guys & gals on who is likely to be interested in next years BC.

After much deliberation & peeps asking so they can book holidays off work, build up enough Brownie points etc a date of Saturday 26th May has been decided for BC4, There were a number of reasons for this inc avoiding Bank holidays, BC's own local events & not least 'cos its the gaffers (Ellie Wink ) birthday on Saturday

As usual the ride will be centered around Shropshire & Wales & peeps are welcome to join for just the rideout or to B&B/camp for both the Friday & Saturday nights with food in the local hostelries which will be announced in due course.

B&B's are aplenty & most will take a booking in advance without requiring payment untill the weekend in question so its always a good idea to book early as last year it got very busy with a local wedding taking up some of the B&B's we normally use.

Below is a link to the main places to stay all within easy walking distance & please just ask if I can offer any help or advice, The Claremont also have as well as B&B a property which can be shared by a number of peeps who may wish to reduce costs by sharing & if I remember correctly a garage they have allowed us to use for the bikes in the past.

Thanks Nick

Post  Eddie990 Mon May 28 2012, 08:56

Another great weekend folks, thanks to all involved in organising. I got in at about 1am after 650 or so miles!

Lessons learned:

1. If you 'think' your tyre 'might' be OK, it probably wont be. Stop being a tighta**e and get it changed.
2. Once the rubber disappears from the tyre, it becomes really, really slippy. Everywhere.
3. I should never have sold my Thundercat, there still brilliant bikes.
4. Motorways are incredibly boring creations, full of myopic, dull witted morons. They are to be avoided at all costs.

Glad that everyone that had an 'incident' are OK, and hope to see you all again soon.

Smile

Post  Snowcat Mon May 28 2012, 09:15

I agree with Chris on all of that but especially the fact that motorways ruin a good ride, I was almost crying on the M56 going home after some Of the roads taken in Wales, motorways should not be ridden at any cost.

Thundercats are the best bikes and on that run I couldn't fault mine. Longest ride I'd undertaken (to date) in one hit and the miles were effortless, a joy in fact and many a time I found myself grinning uncontrollably and I'm not even the most capable rider so it must've been a dream for some of you "old pros"!!

Bring on the next one I'm going to do whatever I can to get out to TOL Smile

Oh yeah and still grinning Smile

Third that.

Mr horse box, which part of a motorbike travelling nearly 30 mile per hr faster than you gives you the right to change your lane into mine? Even if it is a motorway.

While I'm at it the knob in the Peugeot 106 that thought it a good idea to sit up my backside on the first bit of road leaving BC with Chris (damn I want you to pick up the pace Chris) get a life, I like mine.

Rant over.

Brill weekend, feel so tired at work now.

Have a good day everyone.

I was more surprised that Rosco didn't have a trumpet foot peg in his "sport billy" top box. We even checked under the kitchen sink in there but alas it was not to be!!

question Re: Bishops Castle 4, Shropshire & Wales Rideout Saturday May 26th 2012

Post  Rosco Mon May 28 2012, 22:37

I think I have contracted man-flu at the weekend.
Probably off that dodgy Klitcat character.
So feeling a bit sorry for myself with sore everything, runny nose, etc. :(

Just like to say thanks to all who organised it was a memorable weekend for loads of right reasons with the unfortunate addition of a couple of wrong-uns and a couple of wrong reasons.

Nick - I never really saw you at the front, especially when I unintentionally became the 'leader' of a one numpty rideout at one point.
But you did a great job including all the back tracking that unfortunately was required.

Ellie - Happy Birthday again. Sorry that tweetie got beat up by a poody cat. You did a great job ensuring everything went as smoothly as possible. I'm sure you helped keep Nick organised.

Radar - you did a great speech (sorry for interrupting at the end). The t-shirt was a bit tight. Sorry too that your bike got stuck in the middle of the domino rally. Hope the damage isn't too bad and it is back to greatness soon.

Stevecat - great job of back-markering. Not the easiest job and you performed admirably especially rescuing the long legged blonde.

Klitcat - quite a character. Not sure if he should be allowed back. He appears to be a bad influence.

Smig, Mark, robcat's R1 mate & Anna - sorry that your weekend wasn't as incident free as it should have been. Unfortunately it can't be undone but thankfully no-one was seriously hurt. Whatever caused those incidents can hopefully only be learned from by 'everyone'. Feel free to share if you think it will help.

All the oldies - great to see y'all again. People do get older but even I was surprised how baldie Chris got over the course of the weekend.

All the newbies - great to meet y'all and putting faces to names. Hopefully you've not been scared off.

Look forward to seeing Everyone again sometime soon.

Cheers
Rosco

Me too, I have a sore throat and a croaky voice grumpy

I'd also like to say that I hope the weekend hasn't put Anna off joining us again for a rideout, no hard feelings & I hope your feeling a bit better now.

Oh and the reason we were late on Friday was that I had an interview, and I found out today that I got the job!

question Re: Bishops Castle 4, Shropshire & Wales Rideout Saturday May 26th 2012

Post  Snowcat Tue May 29 2012, 00:25

Where do I start... Klitkat I prefer your alter ego and I'm surprised the lurgy is the only thing Ross caught from you

Ross great to meet you it was a pleasure to see you two wheeled camper van in the flesh, (where were the maps, the east wing??)

Ellie I know you weren't that impressed with your birthday but you held the group together well where Nick frankly wasn't up to the job Wink and hearty congrats on the new job

Nick thanks for the weekend, the roads were brilliant, really enjoyed it all despite a few "incidents" which are better best forgotten though we should all try to learn from them. If that is what I have to look forward to I can't wait for many more ride outs with this fantastic group of people

Chris & Kev I really enjoyed the ride down and don't worry my wife didn't re decorate or go shoe shopping

Oldcat, El Tel it was a pleasure to meet the leg end and you and all involved deserve a big old round of applause for putting together and keeping together this fantastic forum and bunch of people Clap

Littlecat, Cath it was great to share some stories and also look forward to meeting up again down Derbyshire way and tearing it up

Stevecat sterling job you did at the back keeping us all in line and great to chat about the old shite people are too quick to forget about IMO

DaiSan for carrying on from when I first met you at J & S and stepping up to help a fellow biker in need, genuinely a nice bloke and I ain't just saying that.

Anna it was great to meet you, you scared me a bit on that corner but you were great. Sterling job finding us that bit of shade under that tree while the "Johnny No Miles" kept us waiting at the petrol station. Hope I get to meet you again at another outing.

I've not intentionally left anyone out because it was a pleasure to meet each and everyone of you and you all made a difference just by being there. Plus I'm a bit shy and it takes me a while to get to know people so 15+ was a big ask Wink

I hope everyone had as good a weekend as I did and any incidents can be quickly learned from and then forgotten so we can all reflect on the fact that this was nothing more than a bloody good weekend out on the bikes and socialising with some bloody nice people.

Despite the troubles it still goes down as the best weekend I've had as a biker, and one of the best times I've had in a while.

Oh and my wife appears to have the lurgy, hope klitcat hasn't been round Smile
