Woo hoo...I'm first.

I really enjoyed the Eifel trip in 2010. Nice roads, awesome accomodation (said the big spoon), fantastic food and a great bunch of people.

While it is a bit further to get to than last time the additional lure of mountain roads might will no doubt make me sign up very soon.

Dirt Bike Dave and I are Hull to Rotterdam Ferry experts now and will provide advice at the bar!

Anyone else considering it?

Cheers
Rosco

One of the members on the German site has offered to meet me on the way, in a layby off of the autobahn. No timing etc yet, but the location is here...

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Point A is my start in the morning, Point B is the proposed meeting point, Point C is the destination.

I guess you'll be going the same way, so maybe somewhere we can all stop?

I've watched with some interest the meeting options on thundercat dot de.

Might be an advantage if you all did meet up with one of the locals for the ride in. Local knowledge and all that.

Hope you all have a great time . . . gutted I'm not in rude enough health to join you :(

Have a bier and brattie for me.

If your German is a bit rusty, Google Chrome does a passable translation. I try and post in German as a matter of courtesy, but many read English and will reply in English (as you'll see - look for the "Clubtreffen" thread).

Well, I've confirmed my bike is ok, so I'm still well up for this, even if it's just me! Shame about various drop-outs but stuff happens, maybe next time!

How have you planned the trip to Harz?

@Weasley: Calais? -> Venlo -> Harz

@Rest: ?

Some one arriving in Rotterdam or Amsterdam?

P.S.
I do live close to the highway A3 (Bocholt), near the netherlands border.
If someone comes along there..send me a message.

Hello our British friends :-D

@ Weasley: I had to change our meetingpoint.

New one:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Hope this is comfortable for you.

I guess you have a mobile phone with you. If you start in Venlo, please give me a short call.

(mobile) 0049 173 72 52 074

Then we can meet us there.
Our Members Appel, Holzwurm have planned a trip to Kelbra.
They will pick us up at beginning of highway A33.

@Weasley: Do you already know which time you will start? Please inform, so that we can plan the last steps of our trip to Kelbra.

Important:
Please do only reply to this post by mail.

(I am on a businesstrip next few days, so I am not able to read any posts here)

Post  0ldcat Mon May 30 2011, 10:46

Hi Folks,

Just had a wee snoop on thundercat .de and found the accommodation plan for the up coming weekends Harz Trip

Bungalow 3 "Präsidentenpalast": Molchgrotte, Erdnuss, Michel, Gunar
Bungalow 4 "Hotel Mama Matzi": Tom, Matzi, Dachsi, Bruno
Bungalow 5 "Ein Ossi im Norden": Bigfoot, Appel, Willi, Devilstar
Bungalow 6 "Zum tropfenden Krug": Olli, Stefan, Ralph, Uwe
Bungalow 7 "Familie Flodders": Thunderrider + 3
Bungalow 8 "3 kleine Schweinchen und der böse Wolf": Schweinebacke, SmartCat, Sti, Mario
Bungalow 9 "Monkey business": 3*UK
Bungalow 10 "Der verlorene Sohn": Wegi, Heike, Ephors Freunde (2)
Hütte 01 "Der Kindergarten-Cop und die wilde Bande": Sascha, Merican, Deggi
Hütte 02 "Freie Liebe für alle": Metalhead, Blackgixxer (2)
Hütte 03 "Azubi-Büro" Ephor Freunde

Note the UK riders have been allocated "Bungalow 9" in red above. also note the comedy naming of accommodation according to the occupiers Smile ie The Presidential Palace for the thundercat.de founder Molchgrotte (Uli).
As we are effectionately known as Inselaffen (Island Monkeys) by our German cousins . . . you can see the relevence of the UK bungalows title lachen

A note on feeding on the day/evening of arrival.
Because people will be arriving from all over and a differing times, no arangements have been made for group meals etc . . . so feeding will be at your own descression on Friday.
There is a Pommes Buede (Chippy) there where you can get hot food from . . . .Brattie & Chips [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] and so on.

Das Wetter Vorhersage (Weather Forecast) for the planned trip and area looks good and you can look at the seven day forecast HERE , I'm sure you'll understand the pretty pictures and not need to translate the wording Cool

Have a great time.

Gutted I can't come but Really wouldn't have been up to the distances involved with the old back

There's always next year great

Cheers

Just to check in - I am up for the meet at the location stated - I'll contact Stephan about it too. It's about 30 minutes from my overnight stop so can be there any time really. I'll PM you my mobile number.

Currently fretting about the house, packing and trying to work out what I have forgotten!

Thanks Paul for your mobile number , depending what time you all meet I'm up for it to , but I'll be a fair bit behind so if it gets too problematic I'll just meet you all there, to avoid delaying anyone .Although trying to catch up will be fun Cool

I'll meet up with Paul at 9 am.

Address:
Town: Duisburg
Street: Carl-Benz-Straße

Meet up with with Holzwurm and Appel will be at 11am. Meetingpoint is not 100% sure and will be decided this evening.
Just one thing is clear: Holzwurm (Michael) has planned a tour to Kelbra. so we are just using the highways just half of the way to Kelbra.

Looking forward to see u guys.
